UFW Tactics Called into Question
According to Katy Grimes of the Flash Report, the UFW has been up to no good in California. Grimes reports allegations of institutionally manufactured lying and fears of intimidation by the UFW.
She explained that leaders in the farm worker’s union are instructing workers to lie and are workers who supported decertification in the “latest explosive news in the Gerawan Farming Worker’s fight to oust the UFW.”
Grimes offered details, names and quotes to back up her claims against the UFW. Most prominent of her sources was testimony from Horacio Ramirez Reyes, a former UFW organizer at Gerawan Farms.
Reyes reportedly testified in front in the ongoing court battle between workers at Gerawan and the UFW, that the ALRB Regional Director Silas Shawver worked to prevent the decertification vote at all turns based on the misinformation from the union.
Reyes also was quoted in the article as saying, that he was instructed by higher up union officials on how to get workers to sign statements that they did not know was true, or utterly falsified.
If these allegations against the union are true then this means more trouble for the UFW as they continue to attempt to organize workers.
