President Trump’s Policies are Working for All Americans

Since the beginning of his presidency, President Donald Trump has implemented free market policies to help all Americans. For example, his tax reform legislation reduced taxes for the majority of American taxpayers, and he has cut the number of regulations, which stifle economic growth.

The results have been phenomenal for American workers. Today, most American workers have lower taxes and greater job opportunities.

This was confirmed once again by the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Employment Situation Summary for January 2019, which was released on Friday.

January was another stellar month for American workers. The U.S. economy added 304,000 jobs in January, far higher than Wall Street’s predictions of an increase of 165,000 jobs.

While the unemployment rate rose to 4 percent from 3.9 percent, this increase was actually good news. Americans who have been out of the labor force for a while have now decided to look for a job because the job market is so strong, thus increasing unemployment. Unsurprisingly, the labor force participation rate rose to 63.2 percent.

Average hourly earnings also increased. Over the year, they rose about 3.2 percent. Republicans in the House Committee on Ways and Means correctly pointed out that wages rose last year at the “fastest pace since the last time a Republican was in the White House.”

In addition, during the week of January 13th, U.S. jobless claims fell 13,000 to 199,000. This was the lowest number of jobless claims since 1969.

Secretary of Labor, Alexander Acosta, explained the importance of the Job Report in a statement:

"January's Job Report demonstrated the strength of the American economy, with 304,000 jobs added as private sector job creation continued to surge despite the partial government shutdown. Significant growth in the mining, construction, and transportation and warehousing sectors led the report.”

In addition, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) noted:

“While Democrats continue to debate how high they are willing to tax families, the GOP Tax Cuts keep paying real, measurable dividends for American workers and small businesses.  Wages and benefits for workers checked in at an 11-year high this week, and today’s jobs numbers show a strong and growing U.S. economy.  It’s incredibly important that we work together to build on these important reforms so jobs and paychecks keep moving in this positive direction.”

Congratulations to President Trump and his Administration!
