For Immediate Release:

May 13, 2015

The Center for Worker Freedom will be hosting a town hall meeting at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Monday, May 18th to promote local-right-to-work.

It will feature a panel of experts and lawmakers including:

State Representative Jim DeCesare, 17th District, Warren, Butler counties

Jim Waters, President, Bluegrass Institute

Matt Patterson, Executive Director, Center for Worker Freedom

Ron Bunch, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce

Jon Crosby, Field Representative of Senator Rand Paul

The town hall meeting is for workers, business owners, managers or any Kentuckian interested in learning about a movement that will boost local economies and expand worker freedom.

Right-to-work – which gives workers the freedom to opt-out of union membership and dues – attracts businesses and drives economic growth.

State lawmakers have yet to pass right-to-work legislation, so local officials have been forced to take matters into their own hands using Kentucky’s home rule statute.

Kentucky’s home rule gives significant economic development authority to its counties. Since right-to-work is appealing to businesses owners and ultimately creates jobs, there’s no question it falls under economic development.

Warren County kicked off the local-right-to-work movement in December 2014. Soon after, the county’s Judge Executive Mike Buchanon reported the county was being considered to house 15 new businesses that could bring in $120 million in new capital investment and create about 2,000 new jobs.

To date, one dozen more counties have followed and others are considering it. As local-right-to-work picks up speed, CWF knows many Kentuckians have questions and would like to learn more about the benefits of right-to-work.

So join us Monday, May 18th from 6:00-7:30 PM CST for a panel and Q&A.
