Americans for Tax Reform, Center for Worker Freedom Support Local Right-to-Work in Kentucky
For Immediate Release:
February 12, 2015
The Center for Worker Freedom (CWF) is proud to announce its support of the efforts of county officials in Kentucky to pass local right-to-work ordinances.
Multiple Kentucky counties have passed right-to-work in the last two months, including Warren, Todd, Fulton, Simpson, Harden and Cumberland Counties, and many more are poised to follow.
The Center for Worker Freedom and Americans for Tax Reform have joined a large coalition of business and advocacy groups in signing a letter of support for this effort, highlighting the increased economic competiveness that right-to-work brings. The letter notes:
“Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon says…that since the local right-to-work ordinance passed, Warren is under consideration for 15 new business projects representing approximately $120 million in potential capital investment and roughly 2,100 potential new jobs.”
Signers include Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, Matt Patterson, Executive Director of the Center for Worker Freedom, as well as representatives from Americans for Prosperity, Kentucky Chambers of Commerce and Bluegrass Institute.
Both of Kentucky’s United States Senators, Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, have publicly endorsed local right-to-work efforts, writing in a joint op-ed for the Bowling Green Daily News:
“Local jurisdictions throughout the commonwealth are fed up with waiting for a state or federal law that will provide them with the safety net from big labor they need. That’s why we support Warren County’s recent move to pass its own right-to-work legislation.”
